Frequently Asked Questions

When are games played?: Most games are played on Saturday mornings starting at 9am at Shorecrest Preparatory School

When do teams practice?: All teams practice 1 hour before game times on game day. Some teams may elect to have an optional practice during the week. If so this is decided between the coach and parents of that team.

How many players are on a team?: Teams average 8-9 players per team. The maximum allowed per team is 10. Games are played 5 on 5 so players all get to play at least half of each game.

Who coaches the teams?: All teams are coached by parent volunteers. We do not provide coaches. Many teams have 2 or more parents that help each other on game days. The time commitment is minimal and 1 day per week

Do players request to play with friends?: Yes, during registration you can request to be on the same team with friends or to play for a specific coach.

Do all players get to play every game?: League rules require that all players get to play at least 50% of each game. Since rosters are small, playing time is never an issue.

How many seasons per year are there?: We play 3 seasons per year. Fall, Winter and Spring. Each season is 8 weeks long. Most of our kids play many seasons per year.

Is Flag Football Safe?: Flag football is fun, non-contact and safe to play. Nothing is 100% without risk. But unlike tackle football, the risk of injury or concussion is very small. Most parents prefer flag over tackle!
